South Africans Sheridan Morais and Ronan Quarmby both had successful outings a dramatic World Supersport race at MotorLand Aragon in Spain earlier today although the other South African in the event, Mathew Scholtz, was not as fortunate. Scholtz was out of the race almost before it started after a collision with Valentin Debise which brought out the red flag.
Starting from second on the grid behind the Honda of Jules Cluzel, Morais crossed the line in fourth place behind Kenan Sofoglu, Sam Lowes and Fabian Foret. A post-race penalty for Sofoglu dropped him to fifth behind Broc Parkes and gave the race win to Lowes. Quarmby ended the race in sixth.
Things did not go as well for the other South African competing on the international motorcycle racing stage this weekend. Brad Binder ended the Moto3 race at Assen in Holland in 20th place yesterday.
